Overview Oak Leaf is hiring a Teaching Assistant to join our Early Learning Nature Program. You will support the lead teacher in creating engaging outdoor and indoor learning experiences that foster a love for nature, exploration, and early childhood development. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with children ages 2.5-5 years old in a supportive environment that emphasizes hands-on learning, social-emotional growth, and environmental awareness. Duties Assist lead teacher in planning and implementing outdoor and indoor lessons aligned with early childhood education standards and nature-based curricula. Support children's exploration of natural environments, encouraging curiosity, observation, and respect for the environment. Help manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement strategies, ensuring a safe and inclusive atmosphere for all children. Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment that fosters independence and responsibility among young learners. Collaborate with teacher to develop curriculum plans that integrate environmental education, child development principles, and creative play. CPR Certification (to be reimbursed by Oak Leaf) Skills Prior experience working with young children in preschool or childcare settings, including classroom management assistance. Strong understanding of early childhood development, childhood education best practices, and behavior management techniques. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers and parents Ability to engage children through active learning methods in outdoor environments while ensuring safety at all times. Flexible with changes that occur throughout the school day Takes initiative to complete tasks and assist with children as needed Comfortable being outside in all types of weather, getting dirty and exploring natural elements This position is ideal for passionate individuals eager to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards while gaining valuable experience in early childhood education within a nature-centered setting. Hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:00am-12pm, until the school year ends on May 27th, 2027. School is closed the week of Thanksgiving, 2 weeks for Winter Break and 1 week for Spring Break. Potential to work summer programs.
