Job Description
Teacher Assistant — Islamic School About the Role We are looking for a dedicated and caring Teacher Assistant to support our lead teachers, specials teachers, and students in a faith-centered learning environment. The Teacher Assistant helps maintain a nurturing, organized, and respectful classroom that reflects our school's Islamic values and supports students' academic, social, and personal growth. Responsibilities Assist the lead teacher with daily classroom routines, lesson preparation, and classroom activities. Help prepare lesson materials, demonstrations, classroom supplies, and instructional resources. Make copies and prepare materials for lead teachers and specials teachers as needed. Support teachers from specials classes, including assisting with materials, classroom needs, and student supervision. Provide hands-on help to students during classroom activities, projects, transitions, and daily routines. Provide one-on-one support to students when directed by the lead teacher. Help younger students with age-appropriate needs such as coats, buttons, zippers, restroom-related accidents, and changing clothes when necessary. Enforce school and classroom rules in a respectful and consistent manner. Help maintain a positive, respectful, and productive learning environment. Hand out textbooks, papers, schoolwork, and classroom materials. Check that homework is completed when applicable. Correct papers as directed by the teacher; Teacher Assistants do not assign grades. Observe students and communicate relevant observations to the lead teacher. Assist with classroom organization, labeling materials, filing paperwork, and keeping the classroom clean and welcoming. Help create, update, and remove classroom displays and bulletin boards. Prepare, run, and clean up audiovisual equipment or classroom materials when needed. Supervise students during lunch, recess, snack, nap, playtime, transitions, and other assigned times. Supervise the class if the teacher needs to briefly step out of the classroom. Assist with student arrival and dismissal, including loading and unloading students during pickup and drop-off. Assist during school events, field trips, and activities inside or outside the school building. Run errands to the office or other classrooms when needed. Support coworkers and contribute as a helpful member of the school team. Model Islamic manners, respect, responsibility, and positive character in daily interactions with students and staff.
Qualifications Required:
Experience working with young children, preferably in an early childhood, elementary, or school setting. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with lead teachers, specials teachers, staff, students, and parents. Patience, reliability, professionalism, and a caring attitude toward children. Ability to follow teacher direction while also working independently when needed. Familiarity with classroom routines, child supervision, and school expectations. Strong understanding of Islamic values and culture, with the ability to model and reinforce them in a school setting.Preferred:
