IMMEDIATE OPENING
Preschool Teacher's Aide - Part-Time AAUW Preschool, a non-profit, parent cooperative preschool in Waukegan, Illinois, is looking for a part-time teacher's aide for its morning classes. Monday - Friday mornings, 8:15 - 11:45a.m. At AAUW Preschool, we believe firmly that preschool provides the foundation for building the social and academic skills that help children succeed in kindergarten and beyond. We are dedicated to nurturing the whole child, and that is at the heart of each or our teachers and staff. We offer a developmentally appropriate, nature-based curriculum with time daily in our spacious outdoor LearnScape.
Job Summary:
AAUW Preschool is seeking a teacher's aide who will embody our philosophy. In collaboration with the Lead and Assistant Teacher, the Aide provides support in snack preparation, cleaning and sanitation protocols, and support classroom management and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for children.
Job Requirements:
Aide must possess a high school diploma. Candidates with prior childcare or food safety training strongly encouraged to apply. Candidate must be willing to obtain and keep all CPR and First Aid and Food Handler Certifications current and obtain 20 hours of professional development annually. Fees paid by employer; staff paid trainings. Ability to speak and write in Spanish is a plus but not required. Candidate must be able to pass a DCFS background check and abide by all DCFS regulations (as directed by facility director).
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare daily snack, ensuring all allergies are considered. Follow proper Food Safety Procedures. Follow all health and safety protocols of the Lake County Health Department (LCHD), and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). Follow all procedures, guidelines and regulations of the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). Nurture and interact with children and assist with classroom activities.
