Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a vital support role as a paraprofessional in a vibrant elementary school setting for the 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time, contract opportunity is located in the North Chicago area and focuses on partnering with students and staff to create an inclusive and engaging classroom environment. With a schedule of 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, you'll play a crucial role in daily classroom activities, ensuring every student receives the assistance they need—including dedicated 1:1 support for a student managing diabetes.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing instructional assistance to teaching staff and supporting classroom management strategies Delivering individualized attention and aid to students, including direct, 1:1 support Assisting students during various classroom and school activities, ensuring their participation and safety Helping with toileting and personal care when necessary, maintaining a respectful and supportive approach Qualifications and experience sought: Illinois Paraprofessional certification is required Prior experience with elementary-aged children, particularly those demonstrating challenging behaviors Preferred candidates will have hands-on experience assisting with toileting in a school or similar environment Ability to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced classroom settings and respond effectively to students' varying needs This role is designed for someone committed to making a positive difference in the lives of elementary school students.
