Job Description
Montessori Classroom Assistant Teacher Roles and Responsibilities The primary role of the classroom assistant is to effectively manage the classroom to ensure that the Directress is free to present lessons one-on-one to children without interruption or distraction. The Assistant's role is vital to the success of the Montessori classroom. He/She is responsible for the entire classroom especially when the Directress is presenting a Montessori material to a child or several children. The Assistant is one who helps maintain and restores order to the environment by the cleanliness of the materials, the shelves and the order restored once materials have been worked with and returned to the shelves. In addition, the Classroom Assistant is responsible for preparing and serving an afternoon snack, escorting the children outdoors for recess and working with the children until their dismissal time.
