Job Description The Paraprofessional/HomeMaker provides in-home support services to families involved with the Department of Child Services. This role focuses on assisting families with daily living tasks, promoting a safe and healthy environment, and supporting caseworker goals to improve family stability and child well-being. The Paraprofessional/HomeMaker works under the supervision of a caseworker and plays a vital role in helping families develop routines and skills necessary for safe and effective parenting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist families with daily household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and organizing to maintain a safe and sanitary home environment.
• Support families in establishing and maintaining routines that promote child safety and well-being.
• Provide supervision and monitoring of child care practices as directed by caseworkers.
• Assist caregivers in managing household finances, budgeting, and resources as needed.
• Transport family members to appointments, school, or other necessary locations when applicable.
• Document daily activities, family interactions, and progress made toward family goals.
• Report any concerns, observations, or incidents to supervising caseworkers promptly.
• Encourage positive parent-child interactions and support skill-building activities as directed.
• Assist with meal preparation and nutritional guidance when applicable.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect family privacy at all times.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development as required.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional relevant training or certification preferred.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
• Ability to work independently and follow supervision.
• Basic housekeeping, cooking, and childcare skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to build rapport with families.
• Patience, compassion, and cultural sensitivity.
• Ability to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
• Understanding of family dynamics and child welfare practices is a plus.
• Must pass background checks as required by DCS.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform household tasks including lifting, standing, and bending.
• Mobility to assist children and perform caregiving duties.
