Key qualifications and experience:

Experience providing paraprofessional support within schools Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong knowledge of deaf or hard-of-hearing student needs Ability to adapt communication methods to support student comprehension Patience, reliability, and professionalism in an educational environment Strong collaboration skills with teachers, therapists, and other school staff High school diploma or equivalent; completion of some college coursework or paraprofessional certification is preferred Successful background check and compliance with school requirements

Responsibilities:

Assist and interpret for a student with educational and communication needs using ASL Support classroom participation, activities, and assignments to ensure inclusive learning Foster a positive, encouraging, and safe environment Collaborate with classroom teachers and service providers to tailor support Assist with classroom transitions and engagement in group activities Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all district policies This contract position offers a competitive compensation rate of $27 per hour, along with the opportunity to make a significant impact in the education and success of a student.
