PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with the EL Instructional Coach, classroom teachers, vocational instructors, counselors, and administrators to support the academic achievement and English language development of Multilingual Learners (MLs).
• Provide instructional support to ML students individually, in small groups, and in exploratory, academic, vocational, and content-area classrooms.
• Assist students in understanding classroom instruction, assignments, and learning activities while promoting independence and self-advocacy.
• Reinforce English language acquisition by supporting listening, speaking, reading, writing, academic vocabulary, and content-specific language development.
• Implement language supports and accommodations for Multilingual Learners as directed by licensed staff.
• Prepare and implement instructional supports, including visual aids, vocabulary resources, translated materials, accommodations, and other language supports.
• Assist students in using instructional technology and language-learning resources to support academic success.
• Utilize bilingual communication skills, when appropriate, to support students and facilitate communication with families under the direction of licensed educators and administrators.
• Encourage student self-advocacy and the development of independent learning skills.
• Assist with the administration of ACCESS for ELLs and other language proficiency assessments, as assigned.
• Monitor student progress and communicate observations regarding academic performance, language development, and instructional needs to the EL Instructional Coach, classroom teachers, and the Director of the ELE Program.
• Maintain documentation, schedules, and confidentiality of student records in accordance with district policies and state and federal regulations.
• Assist in maintaining a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment in accordance with school policies and procedures.
• Foster an inclusive, culturally responsive learning environment that promotes equitable access and student success.
• Participate in professional development related to multilingual learners and language acquisition.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of ELE Programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position may require long periods of standing and sitting. The individual may be exposed to ultraviolet light as found in computer monitors and copying equipment. The individual may be exposed to various hazards in the building.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

The work year is 182 days. This included the day before the opening day of school, Tour or PD Day, and the 180 school days. Compensation will be established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the applicable salary schedule. Fringe benefits are in accordance with District policy.

EVALUATION

Annually.
