Program Assistant Coat Boston Lexington, MA Job Details Temporary | Part-time $25 an hour 2 hours ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Google Workspace Customer communication Google Drive Packing Spreadsheets Writing skills Moving Administrative experience Attention to detail Productivity software Full Job Description Coat Boston and The Holiday Shop, housed within Hancock Church in Lexington, are seeking to hire a part-time administrative assistant for the 2026 season. These programs work with partner organizations in the Metro-Boston area to conduct collection drives for winter coats, and toys, which are distributed in November each year to Boston public schools and community organizations that work with individuals and families in need. This is a temporary, part-time position located in Lexington. The Coat Boston and Holiday Shop's Assistant provides operational, administrative and communications support to ensure that donations received are transferred smoothly to recipient organizations. Under the direction of the program's steering committee, the assistant may interact with donors, recipients, and the staff of Hancock Church. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and an effective communicator with strong customer service, good computer skills and administrative skills. Flexibility and experience working in a team setting are essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Monitor the program's email Inbox for inquiries from donors, recipients, and other partners Accept, open, and pre-sort package deliveries, add to tracking sheets, and move packages to the sorting area Monitor the on-site collection box and move donated items to the sorting area Provide administrative support including: 1. Assist with scheduling of donor organization deliveries and maintain shared schedule, 2. Assist with scheduling of recipient organizations deliveries and maintain shared schedule, 3. Assist Steering committee liaison with coordination of volunteers for sorting and packing, 4. Document all donations received, 5. Conduct mailings to donors or recipients under the direction of the steering committee, 6. Track communications to donors and recipients Other duties as assigned

Additional Requirements:

Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds Proficiency with both Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word) and Google Workspace (email, Google Drive) Ability to communicate professionally verbally and in writing

Co Chairs Coat Boston/The Holiday Shop Hours:

Position will start October 5 through November 18. Hours will vary and will be project- and task-oriented, based upon the seasonal nature of the programs. An average of 10-20 hours a week. Specific schedule will be discussed during interview. This is a temporary position ending no later than November 18, 2026.

Pay rate:

$25 per hour
