Position Overview (see full job description at sscchorus/jobs) The Dynamic and Resonate Assistant Chorus Teacher supports both the artistic and operational aspects of SSCC's weekly rehearsals for students in grades Dynamic (7-12th Grade) & Resonate (9-12th Grade). Depending on availability and interest, Assistant Chorus Teachers may support one or multiple classes each week. The role includes assisting with instruction, rehearsal setup and breakdown, class attendance, student support, andmunication with caregivers on site. Assistant Chorus Teachers also participate and attend all monthly All-Together rehearsals, required in-person staff meetings, dress rehearsals, and Winter and Spring Concerts. Substitute teaching opportunities may also be available by mutual agreement. SSCC's artistic team is a collaborative group of music educators who are passionate about student growth, inclusive music-making, and building a joyfulmunity. The Dynamic and Resonate Assistant Chorus Teachers will be an integral part of thismunity and work in tandem with the SSCC artistic team and operations team to foster a collaborative, inclusive, focused and high-quality music education environment. The ideal candidate(s) must be a champion of SSCC's mission to serve students from all musical backgrounds and experiences. SSCC ispletely audition-free and achieves high quality music-making by providing a supportive and enriching environment that maximizes student abilities. Students in the program have varied levels of experience and strengths and it is expected that all members of the SSCC artistic team be equipped with educational strategies to effectively balance classes and integrate all experience levels. The Dynamic and Resonate Assistant Chorus Teacher is supported by the Executive Artistic Director to align curriculum, teaching methods and optimize student participation.
Key Responsibilities Teaching & Student Support:
Assist in teaching one or more weekly core program classes for choirs grades 6-12th Grade (Dynamic) & 9-12th Grade (Resonate) and support delivery of the established curriculum create an inclusive and engaging learning environment for students with a wide range of musical backgrounds and experience levels Support student participation, behavior, and engagement throughout rehearsals Review weekly curriculum materials and rehearsal guidance to support consistency across classes and locations Communicate student concerns, instructional needs, and questions promptly to the
Executive Artistic Director Program Operations & Collaboration:
Lead rehearsal-space setup and breakdown, take attendance, and monitor student arrival/dismissal Wee students and caregivers and support on-sitemunication as needed. Attend required monthly All-Together rehearsals and the in-person Dynamic/Resonate staff meeting Attend required Winter and Spring dress rehearsals and concerts. Collaborate positively with Team Coordinators, Lead Teachers, and other SSCC staff. Accurately record all time worked, including rehearsals, required meetings, setup/breakdown, concerts, and other assigned duties Engage positively in an uplifting environment for artistic staff by sharing creative ideas and working towards high quality teaching Schedule SSCC has one Dynamic/Resonate teacher opening for the 2026-2027 school year. Candidates may for one class or multiple classes depending on availability and interest (full schedule preferred). The listed work hours include required setup, student arrival/dismissal, and breakdown time.

  • Bridgewater (Hunt Hall, Bridgewater State University), 4:30-8:45 PM Dynamic (6-12), 5:15-6:45 Resonate (9-12), 7:00-8:15 Monthly Rehearsals(mandatory for all Assistant Teachers) All Together Rehearsals
  • Quincy (Quincy Point Congregational Church), 4:00-8:30 PM Dynamic (6-12), 5:00-6:30 Resonate (9-12), 6:45-8:00 Dynamic/Resonate Staff Meeting, 4:15-5:00 Compensation & Additional Perks This is a part-time, non-exempt, hourly position paid at $27.
00 per hour. Employees are paid for all required working time, including rehearsals, required meetings, setup/breakdown, concerts, and other assigned duties. Required:
Bachelor's degree required in Music Education or a related field Singing and choral music experience Experience working with children and/or youth in an educational, music, ormunity setting Reliable, collaborative, andmitted to arriving on time and prepared Student-first mindset and ability to work effectively with students and families from diverse backgrounds Strong interpersonal andmunication skills Ability to work as part of a collaborative teaching team and contribute positively to SSCC's culture Growth mindset Strong sense of humor and willingness to be a team player in tandem with the Team Coordinators, Lead Teachers, and other Teachers Friendly and passionate demeanor with fellow staff, families, and singers Reliable transportation to assigned rehearsal and performance locations
Preferred:
Piano proficiency Interest and availability to teach more than one class per week Connections to and passion for bringing this experience to the South Shore Communities of MA Bilingual or multilingual skills
Physical & Other Requirements:
Ability to lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 25 lbs., with or without reasonable amodation Ability to remain active and engaged throughout rehearsals, including setup and breakdown responsibilities Employment is contingent uponpletion of SSCC's required background screening, including CORI, andpliance with all applicable child-safety policies and training requirements
