Description:
The School Counseling Teacher Assistant, Extended Leave Program/School Counseling provides direct academic, organizational, and transitional support to students returning to school following an extended absence under the direction of the Extended Leave Program Liaison/Curriculum Facilitator. The Teacher Assistant also supports the School Counseling Department with the implementation of the grades 912 counseling curriculum, student programming, events, initiatives, data collection, and other department activities.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Extended Leave Program Support1.Provide direct academic and organizational support to students participating in the Extended Leave Program in accordance with established re-entry plans.2.Assist students with organizing, prioritizing, and completing academic and vocational make-up work, assignments, and assessments.3.Provide individual or small-group academic assistance and reinforce instructional concepts as directed by the Extended Leave Program Liaison and faculty.4.Reinforce organizational, time-management, study, self-advocacy, and compensatory strategies to help students develop greater independence.5.Support students in transitioning back into their academic and vocational classes following an extended absence.6.Monitor student participation, engagement, work completion, and adjustment and communicate relevant information or concerns to the Extended Leave Program Liaison.7.Assist with coordinating and tracking assignments, tutoring needs, student schedules, and other supports identified through the re-entry process.8.Maintain a structured, supportive, respectful, and confidential environment that encourages student engagement and progress.9.Assist with program documentation, student work-completion records, data entry, surveys, materials, and other organizational needs of the Extended Leave Program.

School Counseling Department Support10.Prepare and organize materials, resources, presentations, and activities used in school counseling lessons and programming.11.Support School Counseling events and initiatives, including college and career readiness, postsecondary planning, career exploration, financial aid programming, student transition activities, and wellness initiatives.12.Assist with student surveys, program evaluations, data collection, and other department initiatives as directed by licensed professional staff.13.Collaborate professionally with school counselors, teachers, vocational instructors, adjustment counselors, administrators, nurses, and other school personnel.17.Maintain student confidentiality and safeguard student information and records in accordance with school policies and applicable state and federal requirements.18.Participate in appropriate department meetings, training, and professional development.19.Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services.

1.The anticipated hiring salary range is $24.00 - $26.00 dollars per hour depending on qualifications2.All benefits and entitlements available to School Year Support Personnel.
