Job Description

St. John the Evangelist School in Hydes, MD, seeks an Aide - Extended Day Assistant to support the before- and/or after-school program. The aide helps create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment by supervising students, assisting with activities, and providing classroom support. One day each week, the aide also assists teachers during the regular school day. As a member of the Catholic school community, the aide is expected to uphold the school's mission and values while supporting the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional growth of every child. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, values teamwork, and supports Catholic education.
Essential Functions:
Supervise and engage students during the Extended Day Program. Assist with planning and leading age-appropriate educational, recreational, and enrichment activities. Support positive student behavior and reinforce school expectations. Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times. Help prepare and clean up activity areas, materials, and supplies. Communicate professionally with teachers, staff, and families as needed. Provide classroom assistance one day per week by: Supporting small-group and individual instruction. Preparing instructional materials and classroom resources. Assisting with classroom organization and daily routines. Supervising students during transitions, recess, lunch, and other activities as assigned. Performing other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or administrator. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or coursework in education preferred. Experience working with children in a school, childcare, or recreational setting preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff. Dependable, patient, organized, and enthusiastic. Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow school policies and procedures. Schedule Part-time position during the Extended Day Program. Includes one scheduled day each week assisting in a classroom during the regular school day. Additional hours may be available based on program needs.
Pay Rate:
$18.00,
Hourly Benefits:
