A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Director of Early Childhood Education Position Summary The Goldsmith Early Childhood Center is seeking a warm, nurturing, and enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to support our classrooms serving two - year old children. The Assistant Teacher works collaboratively with the Lead Teacher to create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment rooted in Jewish values, traditions, and community. Key Responsibilities Support the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development Assist with daily classroom routines, including arrival, transitions, meals/snacks, rest time, and dismissal Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment Foster positive relationships with children through guidance, encouragement, and modeling appropriate behavior Support children's independence and self-help skills Assist in implementing Jewish holidays, traditions, and celebrations in the classroom Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play Communicate effectively and professionally with teaching team members and families as directed Follow all health, safety, and licensing regulations Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development as required Qualifications Experience working with young children preferred Knowledge of child development and early childhood best practices Interest in or familiarity with Jewish culture and traditions (experience in a Jewish setting a plus) Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team Strong communication and interpersonal skills Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude
MSDE / OCC
Requirements Must meet Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Office of Child Care (OCC) requirements for assistant teachers High school diploma or equivalent required (college coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred) Completion of required
