Supportive, collaborative staff community Flexible working hours On-the-job training and professional growth opportunities Casual, friendly work environment Position Summary We are seeking a caring and dedicated Assistant Teacher to support our Lead Teacher in creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom. The Assistant Teacher plays a vital role in guiding each child's spiritual, emotional, social, academic, and physical development while fostering a love of learning. Our program follows HighScope's Key Developmental Indicators (KDIs) and the mission and philosophy of Little Lambs. The ideal candidate will uphold all State of Michigan licensing regulations and adhere to Little Lambs' policies and values. Key Responsibilities Maintain a safe, nurturing, "home away from home" environment for children Support classroom routines, including daily activities, diapering, potty training, feedings, and rest times (as age-appropriate) Accurately complete and maintain required documentation (daily reports, incident/injury reports, allergy/feeding records) Assist in setting up and maintaining a clean, organized, and stimulating learning environment indoors and outdoors Serve and/or prepare nutritious meals and snacks, promoting healthy eating habits Build positive and professional relationships with families, ensuring open and respectful communication Encourage children's social-emotional growth through positive guidance and support Foster intellectual curiosity, creativity, and physical development through age-appropriate activities Partner with the Lead Teacher in lesson planning, classroom management, and faith-based learning experiences
