Job Overview Early Childhood Teacher Assistant Detroit Waldorf School (DWS) is currently accepting applications for Early Childhood Teacher Assistant Positions. Applicants should have experience in childcare or working with children ages 3-6. Availability Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM is required, and pay begins at $18/hour . Early Childhood Teacher Assistants work closely with the Class Teacher to create a warm, nurturing classroom environment. Through meaningful and creative experiences, children are supported in deep play, developing social awareness, a sense of wonder, care for others, a connection to nature, and a love of learning. Assistants help guide the rhythm of the day—including transitions, circle time, snack, story, free play, arts and crafts, rest, and outdoor activities. They support children in a calm, purposeful, and loving manner and use a positive, self-aware approach to discipline, with consistent boundaries and deep respect for each child's social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
