Position Overview:
CPA seeks dedicated and supportive Paraprofessionals to assist teachers and support student learning across all grade levels. In this role, you will provide direct classroom support, assist in instructional activities, and help maintain a structured and positive learning environment. Your efforts will directly impact student achievement by fostering engagement, reinforcing instruction, and supporting the diverse educational and emotional needs of our students. Positions follow regular school hours.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Support Assist teachers by providing one-on-one and small-group instructional support to reinforce lessons and ensure student understanding. Prepare and organize instructional materials, including worksheets, visual aids, and classroom resources. Assist with grading student assignments and maintaining accurate academic records. Classroom Management Monitor student behavior during lessons, independent work, and group activities, promoting a structured, respectful learning environment. Implement classroom management and behavioral strategies to encourage appropriate student behavior. Help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom conducive to learning. Student Supervision and Safety Supervise students during recess, classroom projects, experiments, and special activities to ensure safety and appropriate engagement. Assist teachers and administrators with crisis intervention, following established school safety protocols. Address and manage minor behavioral issues, promptly reporting significant concerns to teachers or administrators. Technology and Administrative Support Set up, operate, and troubleshoot classroom technology such as computers, projectors, and interactive whiteboards. Track attendance, record student behavior, and maintain confidential student files and documentation. Communication and Collaboration Effectively communicate student progress and concerns with teachers, families, and school personnel. Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, support staff, and administrators to ensure consistency and quality of instruction and care. Provide emotional support and encouragement to students experiencing academic or personal challenges. Professional Development and Flexibility Participate in professional development sessions to enhance instructional skills and stay updated on educational best practices. Maintain flexibility to support additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by teachers or school administrators.
Qualifications:
Associate's Degree or higher required; coursework in Education, Child Development, or related field preferred. Minimum of 60 college credit hours from an accredited institution required for paraprofessional eligibility. Previous experience working with school-age children in educational settings (classroom, tutoring, childcare, youth programs) strongly preferred. Understanding of instructional techniques and behavior management strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building positive relationships with students, staff, and families. Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality. Ability to effectively assist diverse student populations, including general education and special education environments.
