JOB SUMMARY
The Middle/High School Paraprofessional provides essential instructional, behavioral, and operational support to assigned certified teachers (Grades 6-12). This position requires commitment to supporting a non-traditional teaching methodology, assisting with instruction and adaptation for varied student levels, and implementing behavioral interventions based on Responsibility-Centered Discipline (RCD) principles. The ParaPro plays a crucial role in maintaining a positive, organized, and focused learning environment for secondary students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Assist the classroom teacher in providing instruction to individual students or small groups, committed to supporting instruction in a non-traditional manner. 2. Adapt instructional materials, equipment, or strategies under the direction of staff to provide differentiated instruction and meet student needs across various secondary content areas. 3. Assist staff in the implementation of classroom management and behavioral interventions, including the principles of Responsibility-Centered Discipline (RCD), to promote student accountability and an environment conducive to learning. 4. Assist students with developing appropriate social skills and behavior, through a variety of methods including modeling, incentive plans, and charting. 5. Be flexible in carrying out assignments and demonstrate the ability to work with many different levels of students in one classroom. 6. Prepare, organize, and inventory instructional materials and equipment (e.g., photocopying, setting up labs, organizing resources). 7. Perform supervision duties during passing time, lunch, or other non-instructional periods as assigned. 8. Provide general clerical or operational assistance to the teacher and main office as needed. 9. Assist the teacher in maintaining a clean, orderly, and organized learning environment. 10. Could be placed in a one-on-one setting if needs arise and are determined by the district as a need.

Must meet at least one (1) of the following criteria for
Paraprofessionals:
Obtained an associate's degree (or higher). Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours). Met a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrated, through a formal State or local academic assessment, the knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics (or reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate). Previous experience working with adolescents (Grades 6-12) in an educational setting is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
o Must possess functional knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing secondary-level reading, writing, and mathematics. o Working knowledge of Responsibility-Centered Discipline (RCD) (or equivalent positive behavior support models) and the ability to apply those principles in the classroom setting. o Must be able to use individual teaching methods according to the child's learning style and can assist in administering and evaluating tests and measurements of achievement. o Must possess compassion for students, consistently foster a kind, supportive, and effective learning environment, and be a keen observer of children. Physical Requirements o Job requires extended use of a computer. o Ability to sit, stand, walk, speak, and listen.
