Summary We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team at JPS John R. Lewis Elementary as a Teacher Assistant. This full-time position is ideal for someone who is passionate about education and enjoys working with children. The Teacher Assistant will support classroom teachers in delivering high-quality instruction and fostering a positive learning environment for all students. Responsibilities Assist the classroom teacher in preparing instructional materials and resources. Support students with their learning activities, providing one-on-one or small group assistance as needed. Monitor student progress and behavior, ensuring a safe and productive classroom environment. Help maintain an organized and clean classroom, including setting up and taking down learning materials. Collaborate with teachers to implement lesson plans and educational activities. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to support student success. Assist with administrative tasks, such as grading assignments and maintaining student records. Supervise students during recess, lunch, and other non-instructional times. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages student engagement and participation. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or higher in education or a related field preferred. Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and staff. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from the classroom teacher. Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology. Ability to adapt to various learning styles and needs of students. Background check and clearance to work with children required. CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
