A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.

Job Duties Assess and determine children's interests and assist teaching colleagues in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum throughout the year. Collaborate in the design and maintenance of supportive and stimulating classroom and outdoor environments which reflect developmentally appropriate practice as well as the unique 'culture' of each class group; Collaborate positively with colleagues to develop a developmentally appropriate and welcoming overall program and environment. Work closely with the Program Director to determine a schedule for consistently covering all teaching staff planning times, breaks, professional development hours, etc.
Participate in all-staff happenings:
pre-service training, staff meetings, and in-service trainings Professional Credentials Support staff must have or achieve a Child Development Associates certificate at a minimum and within two years of hire. LCC will provide funding for all training We are seeking someone who: Brings prior experience teaching young children and possesses an understanding of child development. At least 2 years experience is preferred. Embraces and is knowledgeable about project-based learning and the power of play in early childhood education. Has a genuine passion for preschoolers, valuing each child's individuality and fostering joyful connections. Demonstrates enthusiasm, initiative, patience, and a commitment to creating a positive, engaging, and safe learning environment. Thrives in a collaborative, community-centered atmosphere. Maintains a commitment to professionalism, proactive communication and collaboration with the community.
