Experienced Marine Technician — Stander Marine, Leland, MI $27-$32/hour, based on experience Year-round Full-time or part-time About Stander Marine Stander Marine sits on the water in Leland, in the heart of Leelanau County. We sell and service Avalon and Tahoe pontoons and keep Northern Michigan's boaters on the water all season long. We're a locally-owned operation investing in our people, our shop, and our systems — a place where good work gets noticed and rewarded. The Role We're hiring an experienced marine technician to service and repair pontoons and outboard-powered boats. If you know your way around an outboard and a rigging harness and want steady, year-round work on one of Michigan's best stretches of water, we want to talk. You'll work directly with ownership and our senior tech on a well-equipped shop floor, with the autonomy to finish jobs right the first time. What You'll Do Diagnose, service, and repair outboard engines (primarily Mercury and Yamaha) and drive systems Rig and de-rig boats; complete winterization and spring commissioning Service pontoon systems — electrical, plumbing, hydraulics, and controls Perform pre-delivery inspection and prep on new Avalon and Tahoe units Troubleshoot customer issues and document work accurately What We're Looking For 3+ years of marine service experience (or a strong powersports, small-engine, or heavy-equipment background) Works independently and finishes jobs right the first time Own set of hand tools Physically capable — able to lift 50+ lbs and work on and around the water Valid driver's license Nice to Have (Not Required) ABYC and/or outboard manufacturer certifications (Mercury, Yamaha, etc.) Direct pontoon/tritoon experience Comfortable operating a forklift and towing a trailer
Compensation Pay:
$27-$32 per hour, based on experience Hourly with overtime — during peak season, that regularly beats a comparable salaried position Employee discount on parts, accessories, and service Year-round, stable work Schedule Year-round, full-time or part-time. Hours flex with the season — heavier in spring and summer, lighter in the off-season.
