Assistant Teacher - Faith-Based Early Childhood Program (Michigan Licensed) Full-Time | Reports to Lead Teacher /
Program AdministratorPay Range:
$18-$23 per hour (based on education and experience)
Hours of Operation:
Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Join Our Team We are seeking a caring, dependable Assistant Teacher to join our faith-based early childhood program. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys supporting young children, working collaboratively with a teaching team, and helping create a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered learning environment. Assistant Teachers play an essential role in daily classroom life while modeling Christian values and supporting Michigan licensing requirements. What You'll Do Classroom & Curriculum Support Assist the Lead Teacher with implementing daily lesson plans and activities aligned with our faith-based curriculum (ABC Jesus Loves Me) and Michigan Early Childhood Standards Support children's learning through play, exploration, and guided activities Help maintain consistent classroom routines, schedules, and transitions Prepare classroom materials and learning centers as directed Observe and document children's development and progress as required by licensing Integrate Christian values such as kindness, patience, respect, and love into daily interactions Child Supervision & Safety Provide constant, direct supervision of children to ensure their safety and well-being Help maintain required staff-to-child ratios and group size limits Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures Assist with diapering, toileting, feeding, and naptime routines as needed Complete required classroom documentation, including attendance, daily care logs, and incident reports Ensure classroom, toys, and equipment are cleaned and sanitized according to guidelines Support children's social-emotional development with patience, encouragement, and positive guidance Family Communication Build respectful, supportive relationships with families Communicate daily with parents regarding children's activities, routines, and needs Participate in parent conferences, center events, and faith-based activities as requested Team Collaboration Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and classroom team Model professionalism, teamwork, and Christian conduct Support program goals and ongoing Michigan licensing compliance What We're Looking For Qualifications Meet Michigan Child Care Licensing requirements for an Assistant Teacher, which may include: Associate Degree, or Child Development Associate (CDA), or High school diploma with willingness to obtain a CDA within two years of employment Experience working in a licensed childcare or early learning environment preferred Understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices Ability to communicate effectively and warmly with young children Commitment to Christian values and faith-based education Ability to pass required background checks, fingerprinting, and health screenings Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to sit on the floor, stand for extended periods, bend, and actively engage with children while both seeing and hearing them.
