Job Description

Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting students with behavioral challenges in a school setting near Redford, MI. This temporary leave coverage role requires a compassionate and experienced paraprofessional to work either 1:1 or in a classroom with students who have special needs. The position involves a commitment of 35 hours per week for a period of approximately 612 weeks.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
At least one year of direct experience supporting students (PreK12) with behavioral needs and/or special education in a school environment Experience assisting with behavioral intervention plans and academic engagement Minimum of 60 college credits, an associate degree (or higher), or a passing ParaPro Assessment score CPI certification is preferred but not required Ability to provide two references, including one supervisor, reflecting relevant skills and roles
Position Responsibilities:
Deliver hands-on instructional and behavioral support for students, including those with moderate to severe autism Collaborate closely with teachers and related support staff to maintain a safe, positive, and engaging classroom environment Assist with daily activities such as toileting, feeding, diapering, and transfers, as needed Remain attentive and involved throughout the entirety of the school day Help implement individualized behavior plans and foster student independence Preference will be given to candidates within a 35-minute commute of the district and who demonstrate flexibility, punctuality, and commitment to students well-being.
