Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a vital role providing direct support to students within a welcoming school environment near Redford, MI. As a paraprofessional filling a temporary leave coverage assignment, you'll make a difference by helping students with behavioral and special needs feel engaged, safe, and empowered. This contract opportunity runs for approximately 6-12 weeks, with a 35-hour workweek.
What You'll Bring:
At least 1 year of hands-on experience supporting students with behavioral challenges or special needs in a preK-12 school setting CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification preferred Meet at least ONE of the following: 60+ college credits, Associate degree or higher, or a passing ParaPro Assessment score Ability to provide two recent supervisor references from paraprofessional roles Updated resume showcasing experience specifically with behavioral and special education needs Willingness and ability to complete required credentialing processes
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver 1:1 and small group instructional or behavioral support, collaborating closely with teaching staff and multidisciplinary teams Implement behavior intervention plans with care and consistency Support students in all aspects, including toileting, feeding, transfers, and hands-on engagement for students with moderate to severe autism and behavioral needs Maintain a proactive, compassionate approach to student safety and academic participation Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment To thrive in this role, you should have reliable transportation, live within 35 minutes of the school, and be prepared for an active, hands-on workday.
