POSITION DESCRIPTION
The City of Rochester invites applications for the position of: AccessABLE Recreation Program Assistant Park and Recreation Department The City of Rochester is committed to a community where all members feel a sense of belonging. It takes us all working together . Nature of Work This is a temporary/seasonal position that supports individuals with intellectual, developmental, and/or physical disabilities in various programs. AccessABLE Recreation Program Assistants will assist and engage with participants in activities such as exercise, arts, crafts, games, music, swim, etc.
Various Programs:
After-School/Afternoon programs
  • will work primarily with the after-school program serving children and young adults.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday during the school year. There will be no work on non-school days A Meaningful Day
  • will work with adults in a recreational day program Schedule
  • Hours vary Monday-Friday from 11 AM
  • 2 PM Seasonal and Special Events
  • Hours will vary based on program offerings.

F1 OPT STEM. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in delivering an engaging and supportive recreation program Engage, interact, and encourage participants in activities. Assist participants with personal care, as needed. Ensure proper use of equipment, facilities, property, and supplies. Follow behavioral, communication, and medical plans of each participant. Follow directions, employment policies, and protocols. Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 16 years of age. Physically capable of participating in a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities in various weather conditions. Desirable Qualifications Experience with recreation programming or similar work Experience or interest in working with people who have developmental, intellectual, and/or physical disabilities. Background or interest in special education, recreation therapy, human services, or related field.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CRITERIA
