Job Title:
Paraprofessional Responsible to: Building principal, Director of Special Services, and special services teacher to whom assigned
Qualifications:
Individuals with one of the following qualifications are eligible to be a paraprofessional: 60 college credit hours Missouri ParaPro Assessment passing score (before September 23, 2013) Missouri Paraprofessional Assessment passing score (after September 23, 2013), or Completed Missouri's20-hour online substitute training program Experience in working with disabled populations preferred.
Primary Function:
To assist the special services teacher to whom assigned and to work with students assigned to that teacher.
Specific Duties:
Program Operation:
Prepare materials as assigned. Provide services to students as assigned. Provide for individual differences. Assist students in completing assignments. Assist students in moving about the building. Demonstrate knowledge in working with disabled population. Use time effectively. Communicate effectively with students. Communicate effectively with staff.
Classroom Management:
Assist in organizing classroom to promote learning. Demonstrate knowledge in working with students with behavior problems. Follow classroom management procedures as set by teacher.
Interpersonal Relationships:
Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with students. Demonstrate patience, respect and understanding for students. Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with staff. Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with parents.
Professional Responsibilities:
Participate in professional growth activities. Demonstrate initiative and enthusiasm toward work. Follow the policies and procedures of the school district. Follow guidelines developed by the teacher. Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
