Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Make a difference in the classroom by providing essential 1:1 support to students who need it most. This contract opportunity near Lees Summit, MO, is ideal for dedicated individuals passionate about supporting medically fragile students in a school environment. In this role, you'll work closely with a 4th-grade student and an 11th-grade student, both of whom require attentive, compassionate care throughout the school day. Your role is integral to ensuring their safety, involvement, and daily success.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Successful completion of Paraprofessional certification in a school setting. Previous experience working 1:1 with students, especially those who are medically fragile, highly preferred. Comfortable providing toileting/diapering assistance. Experience managing student behaviors, particularly at the high school level. Willingness to learn and use a hoyer lift (campus will provide training if necessary). Strong communication skills, patience, and a supportive demeanor. Ability to collaborate with teachers, therapists, and the special services team.Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct support for a 4th-grade and 11th-grade female student, including assistance with mobility and personal care. Implement teacher and therapist plans to help students participate fully in class and activities. Document daily progress as required and communicate regularly with the special education team. Attend Tuesday morning team meetings (8:00 am start time). Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies regarding student privacy. You'll be scheduled during building hours, 8:45 am to 4:15 pm, bringing consistency and reliability to both students. This is a rewarding opportunity to have a tangible impact each day.
