Special Education Paraprofessionals assist teachers by performing a variety of tasks relating to the physical and instructional needs of the students in a classroom setting. Depending on the classroom and/or building assignment, the Special Education Paraprofessional may support children with various degrees of special needs. This is a 10 month position (August through May), with an opportunity to work summer school in June. Special Education Paraprofessionals are eligible for benefits as listed below. Benefits Free Health, Dental & Vision insurance options (valued at $7,650+) 100% district paid life insurance, and short term & long-term disability Generous paid time off policy - 13 holidays and 10 PTO days Retirement Plans - PEERS/PSRS Pension, 403(b) and 457(b) •Benefits overview is published on our website: 2022 LPS Benefits Overview Schedule Monday through Friday Start and end time varies based on school assigned First day or work for the 2022-2023 school year will be August 22, 2022 Job Duties Paraprofessionals assist students with basic academics (reading, language and/or math) Follow individual health plans (e.g. seizure activity, blood sugar monitoring) Assist with the personal care of students if needed (e.g. bathroom, eating, etc.) Attends to student's health needs and follow individual health plans (e.g. seizure activity, blood sugar monitoring, tube feeding, colostomy bags, etc.) as directed by a healthcare professional Assist in the implementation of instructional programs including self help and behavior Provides sensory interventions under the guidance of therapist and teachers for the purpose of keeping students calm and ready to learn. Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree preferred DESE approved paraprofessional test or 60 college credit hours Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance Liberty Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer and promotes a drug free workplace.
