Job Description

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of K-12 students by serving as a dedicated paraprofessional for a full academic year. This is a contract opportunity near Kansas City, MO, supporting various schools as part of an essential SPED team. The role covers multiple grade levels (elementary, middle, and high school) and requires flexibility, as assignments may shift between sites throughout the year. Youll collaborate with teachers, aides, therapists, and other support staff to deliver respectful, effective support. The work spans general classroom and 1:1 assignments, including assisting with daily living skills and managing challenging behaviors.
Key Qualifications:
Active Missouri Substitute Certificate (listed on the DESE site) or completion of the ParaPro Exam with transcripts on file. (Verification required prior to interview.) Comfortable assisting with toileting, changing, and behavior intervention. Experience in classroom or special education settings preferred. Willingness to float between schools based on district needs. Effective communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
Responsibilities:
Support students individually or in groups, fostering academic and personal growth. Implement behavior intervention plans and instructional strategies under supervision. Assist with personal care, ensuring dignity and respect for each student. Support classroom management and safety, adapting to changing needs. Maintain open, collaborative communication with the entire education team.
Role Details:
Contract runs August 25th to May 28th. Varying school hours (elementary, middle, high). Participates in a two-step interview process (phone prescreen, then Zoom with HR/SPED Director).
