POSITION SALARY
$16.64/hour•$18.09/hour (Depending on education)
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Student Support Paraprofessional provides individualized support to a student to promote safe mobility, personal care, access, and participation throughout the school day. The position works under the direction of the students' education team and assists the student with physical access, personal care, classroom participation, and daily routines. 180-day position Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide 1:1 assistance with mobility, ambulation, transfers, positioning, lifting, and navigating the school environment. Assist with toileting, hygiene, dressing, and other personal care needs while maintaining student dignity, privacy, and confidentiality. Assist the student in accessing classrooms, materials, supplies, technology, and school activities. Provide teacher-directed support, prompts, cues, and assistance to enable participation in classroom instruction and activities. Implement established accommodations or supports related to mobility, communication, physical access, or participation as directed by the classroom teacher and appropriate District staff. Encourage independence and provide only the level of assistance necessary to safely support the student. Communicate regularly with teachers and appropriate staff regarding the student's needs, participation, safety, and progress. Provide appropriate supervision and assistance during transitions, lunch, recess, assemblies, and other school activities. Follow District procedures and required training related to student safety, mobility, lifting, transfers, personal care, and emergency situations. Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality regarding student information. Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the responsibilities of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent Prefer prior experience working with children with special needs Effective oral and written communication skills
