Part-Time Teacher Assistant (PTTA) -
Head Start Program-Newport, NH Grade:
Preschool This position runs from mid-August to mid-June following a school year schedule with the summer off. This position will begin August 17, 2026.
About Us:
Southwestern Community Services (SCS) Head Start is a federally funded early childhood education program with five NAEYC-accredited centers. We are dedicated to promoting school readiness and providing comprehensive early childhood services to children from income-eligible families.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Part-Time Teacher Assistant (PTTA) to join our team. Under the direction of the Teacher, the PTTA will ensure the safety of all children and create a warm, caring, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. This role supports the Teacher and Full-Time Teacher Assistant in implementing the Creative Curriculum in accordance with NH State Child Care Licensing Rules, Head Start Performance Standards, and NAEYC Accreditation Standards.

Ensure the safety and well-being of all children. Create a supportive and developmentally appropriate learning environment. Assist in implementing the Creative Curriculum. Minimum Requirements:
3 ECE credits (including child growth and development) and enrollment in an ECE program or A completed CDA Certificate.
Preferred Requirements:
Associate degree in ECE or a related field with 12 credits in Early Childhood Education. Must pass fingerprinting and criminal record check before hire. Classroom experience with preschool children. Why Join Us?
