About the Position 101 Education is a growing academic and creative learning center in Fort Lee, NJ. Our
ARTROOM101
program provides art education for children and teens in a creative, supportive, and encouraging studio environment. We are looking for a creative and responsible Part-Time Art Instructor to work with students primarily in Grades 1-8 . The position involves assisting and teaching students in drawing, painting, and studio art , while encouraging creativity and helping students develop strong foundational art skills. This position may be a great fit for individuals currently studying or with a background in Fine Art, Painting, Drawing, Illustration, Design, Art Education, or a related field . Previous teaching experience is a plus, but not required. We provide curriculum guidance, materials, and instructional support. Responsibilities Teach and assist students in Grades 1-8 Guide students through drawing, painting, and studio art projects Teach foundational drawing techniques using pencil, pastel, and charcoal Support painting projects using acrylic and oil Demonstrate art techniques and concepts clearly Help students develop drawing, painting, composition, and creative-thinking skills Provide individual guidance based on each student's skill level Prepare and organize materials for class Maintain a clean, organized, and positive studio environment Encourage students to develop creativity, confidence, and independent artistic thinking Communicate with other instructors and staff regarding student progress and classroom needs Qualifications Background in Fine Art or a related field Strong skills in drawing and painting Comfortable working with pencil, pastel, charcoal, acrylic, and/or oil painting Fluent in English with strong verbal communication skills Able to explain art concepts and techniques clearly in English Enjoys working with children and young students Patient, responsible, dependable, positive, and creative Able to work effectively in a small-group studio environment Previous teaching, tutoring, mentoring, camp, or experience working with children is a plus, but not required Education Applicants currently studying or with educational experience in Fine Art, Painting, Drawing, Illustration, Design, Art Education, or a related field are encouraged to apply. A completed bachelor's degree is not required . We are especially interested in applicants with a strong foundation in drawing and painting who would like to gain additional hands-on teaching experience. Schedule Part-Time | On-Site in Fort Lee, NJ Available class/work hours are: Monday-Friday | 2:00 PM-6:00 PM Saturday | 9:30 AM-3:30 PM You do not need to be available for all of these days. Candidates may work selected weekdays and/or Saturday based on their availability and our class scheduling needs. We are happy to discuss a consistent weekly schedule that works around existing school, work, or other commitments. Compensation $16-$25 per hour Starting pay is based on qualifications, art skills, educational background, portfolio, and relevant teaching or experience working with children.
