Description of Company :
Since 1891, St. Joseph's School for the Blind has been providing specialized services to individuals with visual impairments across New Jersey. Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, the School is comprised of several programs, such as: Early Intervention, In-district Support Services, School for the Blind, and Adult Services. As a non-sectarian organization, they are proud to serve individuals of all races, creeds and national origins.
Position Overview:
The Teacher Aide supports the classroom teacher and other professionals to achieve instructional objectives; assisting students with disabilities with achieving established goals and with personal care and mobility. Required Education and Experience High School or equivalent. CPR/First Aid/AED required. Must have an active NJ Substitute Certificate preferred Experience with student with disabilities preferred. Responsibilities and Duties Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher/specialists. Operates and cares for equipment used for instructional purposes. Helps student's master equipment or instructional materials assigned by teacher/specialists. Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips. Keeps bulletin board and other learning displays up to date. Checks and records student attendance. Helps students with lunch, snack and cleanup routines. Helps students with personal care (changing and toileting) and daily living skills . Supports students during pool sessions.
Salary:
$37,961.76 per year
Hours:
