Job Description

Job Overview Join our vibrant afterschool program team as an Afterschool Program Aide, where your enthusiasm and dedication will inspire young minds and foster a safe, engaging environment for children to learn, grow, and thrive. In this dynamic role, you will support program activities, supervise children, and assist with classroom management to ensure a positive experience for all participants at the Gloria J. Parks Community Center. Duties Cooperate with Head Teacher and Classroom Teacher regarding academic curriculum and information. Deliver appropriately planned academic curriculum. Provide input and implement enrichment activities as assigned by the Classroom Teacher. Working with the Classroom Teacher, design enrichment activities based on personal strengths. Working with the Classroom Teacher oversees the classroom and provides an environment that is safe, comfortable, encourages learning, independent work skills, and positive communication skills. Under the guidance of the Classroom Teacher, provide alternative activities, worksheets, projects, and tasks for students to choose from if they complete their work prior to dismissal. Communicate any needs, issues, or positive feedback to Head Teacher and Classroom Teacher in a timely manner so that any needs or student behavior (good or bad) can be addressed appropriately. Maintain classroom ratio and adhere to NYS Office of Children and Family Services School Aged Childcare regulations. Consistently using active supervision when engaging with the children. Aid in Completing & maintaining all classroom records (attendance, report cards, lesson plans, communication logs, incident reports, etc.) Daily tasks and other duties, as necessary, for program operations. Complete assigned trainings, both in person and virtually, that are both required, and suggested, to best serve the students in program. Participation in Parent Engagement. Any other duties specified by the Afterschool Program Director Qualifications Experience working with children in educational, childcare, or youth program settings is highly preferred Currently enrolled in a college program in education, math, science, social sciences, or other related fields.
