Hodori After school program at East-West School of International Studies is one of KAFSC major programs serving children, aged 11 to 13 (6th to 8th grades) who are from low-income diverse family backgrounds. The core goal is to provide academic, social, emotional and psychological support in a culturally and linguistically appropriate setting, while comprehensively supporting their parents and families. The program operates from 2:15 P.M. to 5:15 P.M. Monday through Thursday and 2:15 P.M to 4:15 P.M. on Friday. Under the direction of the Hodori After School Program Teacher, the Program Site Director and Education Specialist, the teacher assistant will assist in leading classroom activities in a class of 20-24 students. This position provides a supporting role to ensure a delivery of engaging academic, emotional and social enrichment activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist students with lessons under direct supervision of the teacher Assist students with homework Assist students with behavior management Monitor and supervise students in classroom, bathroom, hallways, etc. Observe, hear, and respond to students' needs, emergencies, and conflicts that may occur in classroom Ensure a proper level of availability and maintain classroom equipment and supplies Participate in creating a safe and supportive learning environment Receive supervision from the teacher/program site director Maintain students and their family confidentiality Carry out other duties assigned by the teacher and the program direct director

Qualifications:

High School diploma or H.S. senior; Associate's degree or some college in education or related field highly preferred College students are encouraged to apply Must be able to demonstrate high academic achievements Excellent oral and written communication skills Bilingual fluency in Chinese is a plus
