Job Description

Company Overview The Long Island Whole Child Academy is a forward-thinking, non-traditional school dedicated to serving highly capable students who learn differently. Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant Teacher to join our growing team. In this vital role, you will support classroom teachers in delivering personalized instruction and fostering an inclusive learning atmosphere for students with diverse needs. Your enthusiasm for working with children and commitment to special education will help create a nurturing environment where every student can thrive and reach their full potential.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct support to students with special needs by offering behavioral management, assistance, and social-emotional guidance. Support classroom activities by preparing materials, organizing learning stations, and managing classroom behavior to ensure a positive learning environment. Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to monitor student progress and adapt instructional strategies accordingly. Use effective communication skills to engage students, encourage participation, and foster independence in learning tasks. Assist with basic academic instruction in literacy, math, and early childhood education to support student development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's/ Master's degree in education or special education. NYS teaching certification in elementary education and/or special education. Experience working in a special education environment is highly preferred. Knowledge of special education practices, behavior management techniques, and classroom support strategies is essential. Strong communication skills, patience, and a compassionate approach are vital for success in this role. Ability to work collaboratively with educators and other professionals to support student success. Pay:
$42,000.00 - $46,000.00 per year
