QUALIFICATIONS
Hold an Associate's Degree (or higher); or complete at least two years (48 credit hours) of study at an institution of higher education; or pass the Oklahoma General Education Test (OGET) ; or pass the Praxis ParaProfessional Assesement Test (passing score is 455)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Works under the supervision of the classroom teacher in the implementation of the instructional program. 2. Works to help children develop positive feelings about themselves and school. 3. Provides one-on-one tutoring to eligible students, if the tutoring is scheduled at a time when a student would not otherwise receive instruction from a teacher. 4. Assists with classroom management, such asanizing instructional and other materials. 5. Provides assistance in a computer laboratory. 6. Conducts parental involvement activities. 7. Provides support in a library or media center. 8. Participates in the staff meetings at the school during the day when possible. 9. Participates with the teacher in professional development programs when possible. 10. Assists a substitute teacher in the same manner that the regular teacher would be assisted. 11. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities and/or self-selected professional growth activities. 12. Maintains appropriate emotional control, physical health and personal appearance. 13. Maintains confidentiality. 14. Abides by all district, federal and state laws, policies and procedures. 15. Performs other duties as directed by the supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to routinely and continually bend, squat, stand, walk, or climb stairs. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Ability to support and stabilize students with physical disabilities.
