Temporary Position for the 2026-27 School Year

  • 7 Hours per day (No Benefits)
Position Description:

The HQ2 Secondary Instructional Assistant provides education support services in special ecucation and/or general education classrooms. The assistant is directly involved in the instructional program for assigned students and their needs. Responsibilities include leading supervision of students in and out of classrooms, leading small group and one-on-one instruction of students, and leading general assistance to the teacher, as well as indivudually leading appropriate school activities/programs. This postion requries working knowledge of Secondary level Math and Language Arts, as well as the ability to lead the Teacher directed preparation of instructional materials and resource materials and the general supervision of students both inside and outside of the classroom. Spanish fluency strongly preferred, but not requried. This position may work with our medically fragile population.

QUALIFICATIONS / PREFERENCES

Must be Highly Qualified. (See Below)

Working knowledge of Secondary level Math and Language Arts.

Ability to pass Secondary subject matter testing during application/hiring process.

Spanish Speaking, Reading and Writing

  • stongly preferred.

Special Education/High Needs Student Experience perferred but not required.

Demonstrated ability to communicate positively, professionally, respectfully, and constructively with students, families, coworkers, supervisors, and administrators, including during disagreement or challenging situations.

Demonstrated ability to work positively and collaboratively within an instructional team; follow established procedures and lawful supervisory direction; receive and apply job-related feedback; maintain appropriate confidentiality and professional boundaries; and adapt to changing student and operational needs.

Ability to comply with duties as specified by rules and regulations of grant programs when hired under funds of a state or federal grant (IDEA).

Experience with current technology and willingness to learn specially designed programs.

Ability to read, understand and carry out oral and written instructions in a positive manner.

Ability to lead the Teacher directed preparation of instructional materials and resource materials.

Ability to lead the general supervision of students both inside and outside of the classroom.

Ability to continue learning Secondary level subject matter as curriculum evolves.

Ability to lead other IA's in classroom areas, and library/media center in matters of routine clerical work.

Ability to lead small groups of students in the library, computer room, and/or other designated areas.

Ability to lead others in matters of filing, sorting, data collecting and organizing materials.

Dependable, flexible, organized and receptive to feedback.

Consistently sets high expectations for self, peers and students.

Ability to interact with students in a professional, age appropriate manner.

Fingerprinting and Criminal History Check at employee's expense is required once hired

  • employment contingent upon fingerprinting.
    To be "Highly Qualified", requires a high school diploma or the equivalent, and one of the following:
    An Associate's degree; or
    Two years of study at an institution of higher education
  • approximately 72 quarter credit hours; or
    Pass the District Assessment for educational assistants in the areas of reading, writing, math and pedagogy (after hire); or
    Possess a Highly Qualified Certificate from another Oregon school district.
