Duties Assist lead teachers in implementing classroom activities aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and social-emotional learning. Provide physical assistance and behavioral support for students with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum or with developmental disabilities. Support classroom management by helping maintain a positive learning environment and implementing behavior management strategies for students with behavioral disorders. Collaborate with other professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and special education coordinators to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs). Use American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods to facilitate effective interaction with students who have communication challenges. Support students during instructional activities, including toddler care and early childhood education settings, ensuring their safety and engagement. Handle confidential information responsibly while documenting student progress and behavior observations accurately. Qualifications Prior experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, especially within special education or private school environments. Knowledge of childhood development principles and experience supporting students with disabilities. Familiarity with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), behavioral disorders, and behavior management techniques. Proficiency in classroom support tasks such as basic math instruction, literacy education, and curriculum development. Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—to effectively collaborate with team members and communicate with students. Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or special education needs is highly desirable. Ability to handle physical assistance requirements for students requiring additional support in classroom activities. Understanding of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) regulations related to educational equity and inclusion.
