Aug 17, 2026 Job Description A vacancy exists for the 2026-2027 school year for a High School Special Education, Emotional Support Teacher , within the Norristown Area School District. Sign On Bonus for new to the district employees (In addition to Salary): $3,000
Special Education Additional Stipend:
$1,000
Qualifications:
PA certification in Special Education K-12 required Bachelor's degree Experience working with students with significant behavioral challenges, preferred. Must have experience working with Emotional Support students. Current child abuse, criminal history and FBI clearances required. Bilingual in Spanish preferred
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide an appropriate program of education and training for the students. Utilize the abilities, skills and talents of all members of the team to the fullest in educating the students. Prepare lesson plans in accord with the students' IEPs. Develop, write, and implement IEPs. Administer individual diagnostic tests to assess the students' educational achievement. Provide classroom management based on principles of child development and behavior modification techniques. Progress monitor goals and report student progress reports to parents. Work effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team. Develop professional relationships and a supportive climate which facilitates inclusion of the special education student. Experience with ABA techniques preferred. Conduct, write, and implement FBAs and PBSPs. Work collaboratively with consultants from PaTTAN through the Autism Initiative. Assume additional duties as assigned by the program supervisor.
Schedule:
7.5 hrs/day 189 Days/year 2026-2027
