Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Passionate about supporting students in a meaningful, hands-on role? A dynamic paraprofessional opportunity is available for a contract position assisting in a 7th and 8th grade autistic support classroom near Norristown, PA. This position is needed for the remainder of the 25/26 school year and extends into the full 26/27 academic year. Work on-site Monday through Friday from 7:45am to 3:00pm, making a positive impact each day. Step into a classroom where your strong behavioral support skills and dedication to helping students grow are highly valued. As an assistant, you'll work closely with a small team to provide daily support to multiple students with varying disabilities. The role requires compassion, patience, and the ability to effectively respond to behaviors that may include aggression or significant self-care needs.
What You'll Bring:
Experience working as a paraprofessional or classroom assistant, preferably in special education environments Familiarity or background in supporting students with autism spectrum disorders Skills in de-escalation and responding to behavioral challenges Ability to assist with self-care tasks as needed throughout the school day Strong sense of empathy and resilience in demanding situations Reliability and teamwork skills to collaborate with teachers and staff
Core Responsibilities:
Provide direct classroom support to students with disabilities in grades 7 and 8 Assist with behavioral interventions and maintain a safe learning environment Support students with self-care as needed Collaborate with educators on implementing Individualized Education Plans Document student progress and daily notes as required Don't miss this rewarding opportunity to serve students who need your support the most.
