Job Description

UPMC Mercy is hiring a Casual Teacher's Aide to support the Child Development Center! The Child Development Center is open Monday-Friday from 6:30am-6pm. This position works a flexible schedule based on need within the department. Are you passionate about child development? Looking to further your career? Preferred candidates will have previous work experience in a childcare setting with children ranging from infants to pre-kindergarten.
Purpose:
Assists teaching staff to provide quality childcare for the children enrolled in the Child Development Center. Assists to promote the children's social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth by assisting with play and learning activities. Strictly follows department policies and procedures to assure child safety and hygiene.
Responsibilities:
Complete job tasks for assigned shift as designated by teachers or assistant teachers. Independently earns on-going training hours, as dictated by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare. Assist to maintain a center-wide environment that is clean, orderly, safe and attractive. Promote children's hygiene by attending to their personal needs such as toileting, diapering and hand washing. Assist children with their play as directed by teacher or assistant teacher. Maintain confidentiality about children and their families at all times. Works between centers as needed to meet staffing needs; works in other rooms or shifts as needed to keep center in compliance with Department of Public Welfare licensing regulations.
