Job Summary:
Germanna Community College is seeking a Part-time Supplemental Instruction (SI) Program Assistant in the Academic Center for Excellence at the Locust Grove Campus. The (SI) Program Assistant is responsible for arranging academic support for Germanna students in the Locust Grove Academic Center for Excellence (ACE). The incumbent will greet students in person, over the telephone, or via Zoom to determine their needs and will arrange on campus or online tutoring appointments in the Day Smart Appointment Center, provide them with supplementary academic resources, or direct them to ACE's online or on campus math and writing centers, as well as Brainfuse. The SI Program Assistant will also provide coverage for the ACE Online Zoom room. The SI Program Assistant will also be responsible for creating and maintaining office files, registering nursing students for workshops, and assisting students with general academic concerns. The SI Program Assistant will serve as a liaison with the Nursing Department to ensure that academic remediation is arranged for nursing students. The incumbent's primary work responsibility is to support the Supervisor of the Supplemental Instruction (SI) program through the creation and maintenance of spreadsheets, files, and databases necessary for retrieving statistical data and generating reports. At the end of each semester, the SI Program Assistant will collect grade data from the courses supported with SI and analyze the results. The incumbent is also responsible for distributing end-of-semester surveys to students and faculty for the Supervisor to analyze. The SI Program Assistant will be responsible for the promotion of the SI program to students and faculty. The SI Program Assistant will provide the SI Leaders with beginning-of-semester surveys to determine when to hold the SI discussion sessions, help the SI Leaders analyze the results to determine the session meeting times, and schedule on campus meeting rooms. The SI Program Assistant will conduct observations of SI Discussions and provide feedback for SI Leaders. The SI Program Assistant will also meet with the SI Leaders on a regular basis to help them plan their SI discussion sessions, assist the SI Supervisor in the training and professional development of SI Leaders throughout the year, and provide the SI Leaders with any academic or technical resources they need. The incumbent will create and maintain attendance tracking sheets for 25 or more class sections each semester with embedded SI Leaders. Additional program responsibilities include the dissemination of ACE promotional materials and arranging class visits to the Locust Grove ACE office. The incumbent will also assist with Welcome Day and other Germanna Community College events as well as assist with the organization of the annual ACE Training Retreat.Please Note:
This is a 1450-hour part-time position. Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA's/Required Qualifications Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent organizational and judgment skills. Knowledge of Germanna Community College academic and other student support services. Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher Programs. Familiarity with Google Apps, Canvas, Zoom, and/or similar forms of educational technology. Must have a general understanding of courses taught at Germanna Must possess patience and a strong service orientation.
