Program Assistant Gate - Gateway to Independence Maryville, TN Job Details Part-time $15 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Program design Collaboration Moving High school diploma or GED Ability to follow instructions Full Job Description The primary job focus of the Program Assistant is assisting the Program Director in designing and delivering a program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities that will foster appropriate socialization and achievable levels of independence. Program Assistants reports directly to the Program Director and Executive Director.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent Good verbal communication skills Ability to see the person first (empathy not sympathy) Experience with persons with disabilities desirable Interest/ skill in music, arts and physical movement desirable but not required CPR, First Aid training is desirable Work well with other team members, treating everyone with respect. Ability to move supplies up and down stairs from storage Positive attitude Specific responsibilities: Follow the directions/instructions of Program Director Initiate and participate in games/activities with participants in groups and as needed, one-on-one. Assist with design and proactively initiate music, art, crafts, and physical movement activities Supervise participant interactions-visually observe behavior changes and physical movement/location of participants Collaborate with other staff so activities run smoothly and make sure tasks are completed. Provide role model of caring and social responsibility Set up and clean up for daily activities Supervise and assist with clean up of area at end of each day Be prepared to direct/redirect activities in event of disruption Be flexible and willing to adjust as conditions change
