Job Description

EXPERIENCED ASSISTANT TEACHER
(Full-Time) We are seeking an experienced Assistant Teacher in one of Two Year Old Classrooms.
Assistant Teacher Overview:
An Assistant Teacher at The Goddard School of Mount Juliet is primarily responsible for the supervision of young children, and is expected to work collaboratively with the classroom's Lead Teacher, help manage the classroom, and establish and maintain a safe, healthy and nurturing learning environment. Additionally, an Assistant Teacher is responsible for helping the Lead Teacher implement our curriculum, and to cultivate and strengthen communications with the children's parents. The starting hourly wage is $17.00 to $18.00 (dependent on experience). The position includes competitively high wages, many excellent benefits and a wonderful working environment. Successful Assistant Teachers are eventually offered a Lead Teacher position with a corresponding wage increase of 18.50/hour to $22/hour (heavily dependent on experience and tenure at our school). We prefer applicants with at least 3 to 6 months of experience as an ECE classroom teacher.
Qualifications:
An Assistant Teacher must meet the qualifications of his/her state and the following qualifications: the ability to understand and support the education program using "learning through play" philosophy; the ability to interact closely with children at their level; the ability to keep children within sight and sound supervision at all times; the ability to change children's diapers and/or assist in toileting (where necessary); the ability to understand and comply with the franchisee's employment policies; the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with school personnel, children and parents; the ability to handle crisis situations, including assisting in evacuating the building during emergencies; and the ability to comply in all respects with all applicable laws and regulations relating to childcare. An offer of employment may be made contingent on the following: Have reached at least 18 years of age; Have earned a high school diploma, or equivalent; Obtain a current work physical examination by a physician; Obtain an approved criminal record check as required by state regulations.
Educational Qualifications:
To be considered for the position of Assistant Teacher, all candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma (or equivalent). At least 3 to 6 months daycare teacher experience is preferred.
Assistant Teacher Responsibilities:
An Assistant Teacher's responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Establish and maintain a safe, healthy and nurturing learning environment Implement our curriculum Advance children's physical and intellectual competence Support each child's social and emotional development and provide positive guidance Establish positive and effective family relations Build teamwork Maintain professional commitment Participate in faculty meetings and in-service days

$17.00 - $18.00 per hour
