Job Description

ROLE AND PURPOSE
Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution, required.
Experience:
Must obtain Valid Texas educational aide certificate upon hire Have met formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two years of study
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Provide instructional support services. Assist teacher in instruction, preparation, and management of classroom activities. Work under direct supervision of a teacher.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
I.
INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT
Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher: work with individual students or small groups. Assist in maintenance of structured classroom routines and classroom management. Assist with administration and scoring of testing and work assignments. Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment. Assist teacher in providing a behavior management program which emphasizes positive reinforcement. Assist with extracurricular activities and similar events. Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays. Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports. Performs Other duties as assigned by the teacher, lead teacher, and/or principal.
II. OTHER DUTIES
Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance. Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

IV. EQUIPMENT & SOFTWARE SKILLS
Personal computer, printer, fax machine, copier, scanner, and calculator. Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, One Drive, etc.) Google Suite applications (Docs, G-Mail, Sheets, Slides, Drive, etc.)

Standard office equipment, including computers and peripherals; standard instructional equipment.

Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping

Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment:
Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise
Mental Demands:
Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
