Green Oaks Education and Support, a private Christian school and adult education program for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, is looking to hire full time assistants for our adult classrooms. Experience in working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is beneficial. The positions involve providing support in both an academic learning environment, as well as non-classroom learning settings. This is NOT a caretaker position. One position will start right away. The other position will start in January Please note: Green Oaks is a conservative, Christian environment.
Duties:
Teaching Assistants :
Responsible for providing instructional assistance during class/internships, supporting teacher in all areas of responsibility as directed, setting up classroom and preparing needed materials and supplies, keeping documentation for the teacher, supervising the classroom when the teacher is out of the room, providing personal and/or behavioral support. Weekday/school hours. All staff must meet school driver requirements, including having personal automobile insurance, a current driver's license and a good driving record.
Benefits:
30 hours per week is considered full time for benefits except for short term disability, which requires 35 hours per week. All full time employees will receive short term disability, 1800MD, & life insurance at no cost. Health insurance is available to all full time employees with Employer (Green Oaks) paying a portion of the premium and the employee paying the remaining, depending on the plan chosen. Employees will be responsible for 100% of any additional family coverage they enroll in. All full time employees are eligible to participate in our 403(b) retirement plan (tax-sheltered annuity plan or TSA). At this time, Green Oaks does not contribute to the plan. Pay is determined by relevant experience, work history, education, and internal equities. Green Oaks uses these factors to offer the maximum fair compensation to all employees.
Programs:
Green Oaks Education and Support consists of two programs, Green Oaks School and Green Oaks Adult Learning. Green Oaks School Green Oaks School is a Christian-based school for individuals with intellectual disabilities, elementary ages through adults, who do not have serious medical involvement or significant behavior challenges. The primary focus of our school is to teach at the level of ability and interest of our students. We offer math, reading, writing and basic social studies. In addition, the students receive instruction in art, music, computer skills and physical education. Our students are afforded the opportunity to develop lifelong friendships and often make great social gains in addition to academic growth. Green Oaks School follows an August to May academic calendar. Green Oaks Adult Learning Green Oaks Adult Learning, GOAL, is a unique Christian educational program designed for adults with intellectual disabilities who have completed their secondary education plan. They, along with their families, desire participation in a program with a continuing emphasis on academics, social skills, vocational training, and additional life skills. The primary objective of the GOAL program is to provide an atmosphere of acceptance and appreciation for the gifts of the individual in a place where opportunities for continued growth and development are available. In addition, GOAL offers adults with intellectual disabilities a place for social interaction with their peers. The GOAL program is year round.
