Director of Education Job Summary :
The Outreach and Education Assistant aids the Museum's education mission by helping plan, prepare, and execute educational programming with a focus on community outreach and engagement. The position also assists with museum tours, community art days, Art Tales, the Museum's art-in-public-school program, Art 2 Go, fundraising events, exhibition receptions and openings, and other Museum programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
(duties include but are not limited to the following): Implement off-site activities and demonstrations, including lesson plans. Create programs offered at community events that engage participants and encourage museum visitation. Submit information to the Marketing Director in a timely manner for newsletters, social media, press releases, and email blasts. Prepare and maintain the annual budget related to outreach programs and events. Research and identify potential new program partners in the community. Track program attendance and participation. Maintain and order needed supplies and materials. Assist with program set-up and other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Art Education, Museum Studies, or a similar field. Fluency in both English and Spanish is advantageous. At least 3 years of teaching experience, including work with children and seniors; 5 years is preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills; effective public speaker before large crowds. Highly motivated, detail-oriented, able to work independently, and professional in both one-on-one and group settings. Work-related travel is mandatory. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license, a reliable insured vehicle, and approved mileage will be reimbursed at the IRS standard rate. Able to lift 30 pounds and assist with program set-up. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; candidates must also be available to work evenings and weekends. Required to pass a background check and to be subject to a drug test.
