Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher Assistant to join our dynamic educational team. In this vital role, you will support classroom teachers in creating an engaging, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment for students with diverse needs. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help foster academic growth, social development, and confidence among students. Responsibilities Assist classroom teachers with implementing lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and early childhood education activities. Provide direct support to students with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorders and behavioral challenges, ensuring they receive personalized assistance. Support students' social-emotional development through positive behavior management strategies and behavioral disorders support techniques. Help facilitate communication using American Sign Language (ASL) when necessary to promote effective interaction with students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Assist with physical needs such as mobility support, classroom setup, and basic childcare tasks for toddlers and preschool-aged children. Collaborate closely with other professionals—such as special education teachers, therapists, and counselors—to develop individualized education programs (IEPs) and adapt instructional methods accordingly. Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to policies outlined by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) to ensure compliance with educational standards. Skills Strong understanding of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices. Experience working with children, especially those with disabilities or special education needs, including classroom support in special education settings. Knowledge of behavior management strategies tailored for students with behavioral disorders or developmental disabilities. Proficiency in communication skills—both verbal and written—to effectively collaborate with team members, parents, and students. Familiarity with curriculum development, literacy education, basic math concepts, and preschool activities. Ability to provide physical assistance for students requiring mobility or other physical support within the classroom environment. Experience working with individuals who have autism spectrum disorders or other developmental disabilities is highly valued.
