A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.

Job Description

Part-time teachers are responsible for supplementing a cohesive teaching team; following the curriculum; and assisting the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Part-time teachers must understand basic children's cognitive, social, emotional and physical development. Minimum of 3 months of professional child care experience preferred. Applicant must be at least 18 years of age with high energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents). The following are required either before or once hired at the Center's expense: Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification. The following are encouraged either before or once hired at the Center's expense: MAT and DHO certification. Applicant must also clear full background check and pass TB test/screening.
Educational Requirement:
Either a High School Diploma or a
GED Educational Preferences:
  • Teaching diploma from a recognized Montessori organization OR
  • Associate's Degree in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 Credits OR
  • CDA (Child Development Associates Credential)OR
  • Six months of supervised programmatic experience with the intent to complete 16 hours of training within a month of being hired.

$13.00 - $14.00 per hour
