Early Childhood Education Director Job Summary:
The Infant Teacher Associate supports the classroom by creating a caring, safe, and nurturing environment for children. This role collaborates with the Classroom Coordinator to implement activities that enhance the overall care and quality of education. The Infant Teacher Associate serves as the lead teacher in the classroom and must be able to communicate effectively, listen, and work collaboratively within a team environment. The Infant Teacher Associate implements a high quality educational program by building positive relationships with children and families while maintaining compliance with all Vermont Child Care Licensing Regulations. This role also observes and documents children's interests and developmental progress, sharing this information with families and team members. The Infant Teacher Associate works closely with the Classroom Coordinator to ensure the classroom operates smoothly and efficiently.
Essential Functions:
Engage in play with children to support learning and development. Implement curriculum activities and encourage participation by children. Provide developmentally appropriate supervision for all children when counted in ratio. Build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers. Ensure a healthy classroom environment, including maintaining appropriate hygiene,cleanliness, and safety standards. Maintain frequent communication with families through informal discussions, Playground App messages, parent teacher conferences, and newsletters. Help ensure smooth daily transitions between home and the childcare center. Observe and document children's development using Teaching Strategies Gold. Complete ASQs and other developmental screenings throughout the year. Use Teaching Strategies Gold, ASQs, and other developmental tools to track development, plan curriculum, and discuss referrals to additional services with families when appropriate. Ensure all required classroom documentation is completed, including but not limited to daily sign in sheets, food program documentation, injury and incident reports, and entries into the Playground App. Sit with children during meals and model positive eating habits. Maintain an Individual Professional Development Plan. Complete a minimum of 18 hours of professional development annually. Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in other classrooms as needed to maintain ratios and support program operations. This contributes to the overall success of the program and helps build relationships with children and coworkers. Attend monthly staff meetings. Participate in Springfield Area Parent Child Center events, activities, and fundraisers. Follow the SAPCC Employee Handbook, center policies and procedures, state regulations, and PlayWorks protocols and procedures. Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Director or Classroom Coordinator.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry small children, move classroom supplies, and engage in activeplay. Requires frequent sitting, kneeling, crouching, or crawling to interact with children, and the ability to remain on feet for extended periods while supervising indoor and outdoor activities.
Qualifications:
Minimum of one year experience working with children under six years of age Associate degree in Early Childhood Education preferred Minimum of 21 credits in Early Childhood Education required or the ability to obtain within a specified timeframe in accordance with Vermont Child Care Licensing Regulations Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team Ability to give and receive feedback in a professional manner Strong professional ethics and judgment Ability to maintain a professional and respectful work environment Access to reliable transportation Ability to pass all required background checks in accordance with Vermont Child Care Licensing Regulations.
Pay:
$19.50 - $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 32.0 - 40.0 per week
